Raw Cacao Iced Espresso

Do you love iced mochas as much as I do? If so then you will be obsessed with my Raw Cacao Iced Mocha, which adds a nutritional boost to your coffee! I recently was shopping at Erewon and noticed Organic Raw Cacao on the shelf. I’ve heard that there is some great nutritional value in raw cacao so I picked up a bag. I started researching and discovered that cacao is rich in magnesium, iron and fiber. Magnesium is needed for over 300 chemical reactions in the body and helps with bone health, heart health and energy levels. Iron is an essential mineral that keeps your red blood cells healthy which is crucial because they transport oxygen from your lungs to your body. If you don’t have enough oxygen then exhaustion can set in and your immune system will not be as effective in fighting infections. Fiber helps your digestion system to process food more efficiently. Raw cacao is a better choice than cocoa, which is processed and heated therefore losing these key nutritional components. As you can see raw cacao is the way to go if you want to gain all these wonderful health benefits!

I think by now you should have enough reasons to add raw cacao to your diet! Now let’s get back to my favorite way to use raw cacao, in an iced mocha espresso!

Raw Cacao Iced Espresso

Ingredients

  • 2 shots Allegro Organic Espresso in Medium Dark
  • 1 tbsp Organic Chocolate Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Raw Organic Cacao Powder
  • 3/4 cup Organic Almond Milk

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of organic espresso. My favorite is Allegro Coffee – Organic Espresso Sierra in Medium Dark.

  2. Add 1 Tablespoon organic chocolate syrup to hot espresso and stir. This adds sweetness!

  3. Add 1/2 cup to 3/4 a cup organic almond milk (or your milk of choice.)

  4. Put a few ice cubes in a shaker and add the chocolate espresso mix.

  5. Add 1 Tablespoon organic raw cacao to the shaker and shake vigorously.

  6. For a pretty presentation, swirl some organic chocolate syrup around a glass and add ice. 

  7. Pour the espresso mixture in the chocolate swirled glass and enjoy!
