Must Have Baby Essentials For your Bedroom

It’s been a minute since I have blogged as my husband and I just welcomed our baby boy Louis Easton into our lives on May 13! I fully intend on sharing my pregnancy and labor and delivery story when this baby allows me a little more sleep so I can gather my thoughts! Since motherhood is now such a big part of my life, I am going to start sharing some mommy tips and stories along with my adventures and health blog posts. With this pandemic and a newborn baby, my adventures are taking a bit of a back seat so, why not share what is most relevant in my life until I can get back to hikes and travel.

As a first time mom, I have had to learn a lot to get prepared for my little one to enter into my world. As you other parents out there know, a baby comes with a lot of stuff! Since a baby sleeps in his parents room for the first six months, my husband and I have had to sprinkle baby items into our space without completely taking over the “adult” feel of our bedroom. There are some must have items that we have integrated into our space while still keeping a minimalistic vibe and grey and neutral toned decor. We shopped mainly at Buy Buy Baby and Amazon but splurged on our Snoo bassinet. I have listed out our must have baby items that tastefully fit into our bedroom without overtaking the adult vibe.

Diaper Changing Table

We purchased a new baby bureau for Baby Louis’ future bedroom to store all his cute little clothes and toys. A lot of parents add a changing table to the top of the baby’s bureau however, since the baby sleeps in his parents room for six months it didn’t make much sense to me to have to go to another bedroom in the middle of the night for diaper changes. Let’s get real, anything that makes life easier with a newborn I am on board with! I searched on Buy Buy Baby and found a fair priced and simply designed diaper changing table for our bedroom to keep everything we need for baby in one place for the first 6 months. Once baby starts sleeping in his own room we can move the diaper changing table or donate it and use the top of the bureau. I especially love the changing table we selected because it has a lot of storage space to keep all the baby items we need handy without running to another room.

Diaper Changing Table + Storage

  • Child Craft Diaper Changing Table – this simple white changing table has plenty of room to store all the must have baby essentials. It is sturdy and can attach to the wall for safety.
  • Storage Baskets – these are great to store diapers, wipes, clothes, diaper creams, burp cloths, and anything else you may need quick access too. They come in pink or grey.
  • Soy Bean Changing Pad Topper – while the changing table came with a changing pad, I purchased another one to raise it up a bit higher. I can also take it off and move it around if I need to change the baby in another room in the future.
  • Wicker Basket – I ordered a cute little wicker basket to keep next to the changing table for the baby’s dirty clothes. We are washing all his items separate and he has such little things I don’t want them to get lost in our big laundry basket!

Natural Products We Love + Keep in Our Changing Table:

Diaper Pail– so those diapers don’t stink up mommy and daddy’s room. I grabbed the 3 pack refill Diaper Genie trash bags so I have plenty on hand.

Rocking Chair

A rocking chair is a must have item to have in your bedroom. Since we are limited on space after adding in the diaper changing table and the bassinet, we wanted a smaller rocking chair. After testing out the  DaVinci Swivel Sierra Glider in store at Buy Buy Baby, we quickly added this item to our baby registry. I knew I was going to be spending a lot of time nursing the baby and rocking him to sleep so I am super excited I found the perfect rocking chair!

Organic Blanket – I have this neutral toned organic blanket wrapped over the back of my rocking chair to cover up myself or the baby during rocking or feeding sessions. I feel good knowing the blanket is free of chemicals and will be gentle on Baby Louis!

Other Items:

  • Air Purifier– my husband spent a ton of time researching air purifiers and decided on the Pure Enrichment Pure Zone 3 in 1 Air Purifier. He wanted one that is a true HEPA for the best air cleaning results. After all we want baby’s precious body to be breathing in the best quality air.
  • Sound Machine – since there are lots of noises in the womb, a sound machine helps keep our baby happily sleeping. We love this cute owl sound machine with starry lights.
  • Baby Monitor– my husband and I wanted a monitor without wi-fi since we have heard stories of people hacking into monitors, so the Infant Optics was a perfect choice. My sister recommended it and we are using it every day!
