Organic Baby Must Haves

Let’s talk baby organic must haves! Trying to keep up with being 100% organic can be super costly in terms of what you are purchasing for your baby. A good strategy instead is implementing a few staple organic items into your baby’s wardrobe and toy bin. So what items are worth the organic price tag? If your baby is anything like mine, he puts everything in his mouth to figure out what it is. Baby clothes and toys can have dyes and harmful ingredients in them and if your baby is sucking on them, then he could be ingesting those toxic chemicals.

A good rule of thumb is to take a look at what your baby is putting in his mouth on a daily basis to decide if it is worth replacing some of those items with organic ones. My baby boy constantly grabs his bib and burp cloths and immediately brings them to his mouth. He is also teething so, specific teether toys are great to soothe his little gums. I decided to integrate Burt’s Bees Baby bibs and burp cloths along with Kishu Baby scarf bibs into his wardrobe. Since both brands are organic I feel much better about my baby putting them in his mouth. I also found the cutest organic cotton animal teether toys and purchased one to add to his toy bin.

Clothes and blankets are additional items to consider buying organic. Nighttime onesies and swaddles spend a significant amount of time touching your baby’s delicate skin. Since skin is porous it may be worth reducing the dyes that can seep into your little one’s body. I like to purchase a few organic day time outfits but do not fill my boy’s closet with all organic onesies since they tend to be more expensive and he doesn’t spend as much time in them.

Last, I love this set of Burts Bees Baby blankets that are lightweight and easy to throw in your diaper bag! They can be used as both swaddles and blankets giving you more bang for your buck! Now you should have a good shopping checklist to start purchasing staple organic baby must haves for your little one. You will feel better knowing you are limiting your baby’s contact with dyes and toxins!
